One-time or monthly gifts by credit card or bank account through the Archdiocese of Toronto's secure portal. Choose "St. Columba Parish, Toronto" from the list.
Pre-Authorized Giving
A monthly gift drawn from your bank account on the 1st or 15th. Steady income lets the parish plan; you never have to remember an envelope.
Envelopes
Registered parishioners receive a box of numbered envelopes each December. Cash or cheque in the collection is recorded to your name for your tax receipt.
E-transfer
Send an Interac e-transfer to giving@stcolumbatoronto.ca. Deposits are automatic; put your envelope number or full name in the message so we can receipt it.
ShareLife
The Archdiocese's annual appeal funds Catholic agencies serving the vulnerable across the GTA. Our parish goal this year is $85,000. Special collections in March, May and June.
Gifts in your will
A bequest, a gift of securities or a life insurance policy can support the parish for generations. Speak in confidence with Fr. Moreau or your advisor; we can provide suggested wording.
Where your gift goes
The Finance Council publishes a full annual report each spring; a summary is on the Parish Councils page and printed copies are at the back of the church. Roughly speaking, $25 a week from a family covers that family's share of heating, lighting and insurance; anything above that builds ministry.
Give time and talent too
Money is one gift of three. The parish runs on volunteers: lectors, counters, gardeners, pantry sorters, catechists, drivers. If your budget is tight this year, an hour a week is just as welcome.
Questions
Will I get a tax receipt?
Yes. One receipt for all your gifts of the calendar year is mailed (or emailed) by the end of February. Online gifts are receipted by the Archdiocese.
Is online giving secure?
The portal is operated by the Archdiocese of Toronto and processes cards through a PCI-compliant provider. The parish never sees or stores your card number.
Can I designate my gift?
Yes: building fund, organ fund, St. Vincent de Paul, youth ministry and refugee sponsorship all accept designated gifts. Undesignated gifts go to the general operating fund, which is where the need is greatest.
Why does the parish pay an assessment to the Archdiocese?
The assessment supports seminary formation, retired priests, chancery services and poorer parishes. It is calculated on ordinary income and audited annually.
